The Gathering of Men in Fort Bend County
Mission Statement - April, 2008
It is our faith declaration that we are to become an unapologetic Christian organization in the Fort Bend County area that activates the body of Christ in the marketplace. Our desire for all men involved in our ministry is to become more like Christ so that we will be equipped for ministry in our families, businesses, and churches. By the power of God and for His glory, we are to become a spiritual force that obeys the mandate of Jesus Christ to make disciples.
Research shows that many Christian men are leaving the church. There has been a 92% increase in the number of un-churched Americans in the last 13 years and more than (62%) these un-churched adults consider themselves to be Christian; 55% of them are men although they comprise slightly less than half of the national population.
Scripture Admonition: Hebrews 10:24,25 - And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching. NIV
Our mission is to establish a long-term and effective ministry that will develop and work with an expansive network of Christian men of all ages and ethnic groups, of local churches across all denominational lines and of currently existing Christian ministries in the Fort Bend County area.
Our focus will be to organize, encourage, challenge and facilitate Christian men to bring their unbelieving business colleagues to interesting events where they can be introduced to Jesus Christ. At the same time, these events will provide spiritual input into the Christian man's life to help them grow in their faith.
Our strategy is to disciple men to a mature relationship with Jesus Christ in three ways - outreach, growth, and service.
- Outreach is the process by which we either introduce men to Christ for the first time or remind them of their previous commitment to Christ.
- Through growth activities we help men deepen their relationship with Christ and with their Christian brothers.
- Service projects provide the opportunity to live out their faith in practical ways.
Our core values are Commitment to Jesus Christ, Personal Integrity, Respect for the individual, Willingness to Serve Others, and Excellence in Everything.
